Lord of the Rings Papercraft: Shelob
For whatever the reason, Lord of the Rings papercraft is a rare thing. This Shelob paper model is one of the few examples around. Shelob is described by author J. R. R. Tolkien as being an "evil thing in spider form" whose food was "all living things". In the books, Shelob first appears in the second book in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Two Towers, however in the movie trilogy her appearance is delayed until the The Return of the King, the third book in the series. This papercraft was created by "Kangu" and the Pepakura PDO template is available here. When building this model it should be noted that the gluing tabs for the legs may need to be trimmed down some in order to get the legs to fit together properly. [via Bongo Papercraft]

Ammonite Fossil Papercraft
Ammonites were creatures with flat shells that had a regular, helically-spiraled shape, that existed on Earth in prehistoric times, having evolved from nautiluses. Discoveries have shown that they ranged in size from a few centimeters to as big as about 1.7 meters in diameter. Ammonites are not related to shellfish; they were soft-bodied mollusks just like squid and octopuses. As they are now extinct, we can only learn about them from fossils. They were generated on the Earth from the end of the Paleozoic era's Silurian period (around 420 million years ago) to the middle of the Devonian period (around 380 million years ago). They inhabited the oceans around the world until the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era (around 65million years ago), meaning the species existed for a total of around 350 million years-Canon

Dalmatian Papercraft
The Dalmatian is a breed of dog known for its black (or brown) spots on a white coat. Dalmatians are born completely white but begin to develop spots about two weeks after birth. In the past they were often used as hunting dogs or watch dogs, as well as sheep dogs, meaning they have the strength and stamina to endure tough physical exertion. They also get along well with horses, and back when horse-drawn carriages were the mainstream form of transport, Dalmatians were used to guide or protect the carriage-Canon

Alberobello is a small town located in Puglia, in the south of Italy. The town is full of houses known as trulli, which are structures with conical-shaped roofs made from layers of limestone. The walls are also covered in limestone, making them white and sturdy, and they are also said to protect against UV rays, which are particularly strong in this area. These unique houses are a registered world heritage site. The pieces of this paper craft can be nested inside one another like Russian matryoshka dolls. You can also display them in size order, with the biggest one at the front, to create a miniature town with a three dimensional perspective-Canon

300 Papercraft: Spartan Shield
Thucydides reports that when Spartan men went to war, their wives (or another women of some significance) would customarily present them with their shield and say: "With this, or upon this", meaning that true Spartans could only return to Sparta either victorious (with their shield in hand) or dead (carried upon it). The inverted "V" symbol is the Greek letter "L" [Lambda (uppercase Λ, lowercase λ; Greek: Λάμβδα or Λάμδα)]. The Spartans used the red Greek capital letter lambda (Λ) displayed on their shields as an identification as the people of Lacedaemonia (Λακεδαιμωνία), which in historical times, was the proper name of the Spartan state as used by Thucydides in his histories.

300 Papercraft: Spartan Shield
Just when I think I can't find another use for one of my papercraft templates, along comes another idea! Such was the case with this Spartan shield from the movie 300. This shield is based on the same template I used for my Tron identity disk models and also my Captain America shield model. I won't repeat the template size info again because it is the same as the previous shields. A download of the template is available here.
