Thor Paper Doll

I don't typically post paper dolls, but this one was a little out of the ordinary. ^^ This Thor paper doll is but one in a lengthy series of free paper dolls by illustrator Kyle Hilton. Hilton's series includes characters from various television shows and movies. Check them out here. If you are the mood for something a little more humorous, take a gander at this Deadpool paper doll.

Thor Movie Papercraft: Mjolnir

In Marvel Comics' new Thor movie, the god of thunder's war hammer Mjolnir is given a more ornate look than the comic book version of the weapon. My friend George at the Behold the Geek! blog took it upon himself to create a full scale paper model of the movie version of the hammer. George based the construction of his hammer on my own 1:1 scale Mjolnir papercraft. The template for the movie Mjolnir is available here. Note: 11x17 size paper or cardstock is required to build the hammer full size.

Full Scale Thor Hammer Papercraft

Ever since I released a 1/2 scale Mjolnir paper model back in 2008 I have gotten requests to make a full scale version of the hammer. So to celebrate the release of the new Thor movie this week, I am finally honoring those requests and releasing a 1:1 scale version of my original Thor hammer papercraft. When I created the original model I attempted to make it the "official" size according to Marvel Comics. The full scale model may seem a little large at 21" (53 cm) long, but you have to remember that this is the weapon of a 6'-6" (2 m) tall, 650 lb (295 Kg) Norse god. ^^ The full size template for Mjolnir may be downloaded here.

Marvel Comics Papercraft: Thor

With a new Thor movie coming out later this year, it was only a matter of time before someone created a papercraft of Marvel Comics' god of thunder. This large paper model is based on a 3D model from the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game and stands at a little over 21 inches (54 cm) tall. The designer and builder of the model is Mariano DG from imprime-recorta-pega.com. Over the past year Mariano has produced several other excellent papercraft models of Marvel Comics characters. I look forward to seeing more from him this year. A download which includes both PDF and PDO format templates for the Thor model is available here.

Thor Hammer Build

This build of my Thor's Hammer papercraft is by "Fioutch", one of several contributors to a French language blog about superhero comics called Cable's Chronicles. Nice job! I have no explanation for the Pikachu in the photo so don't ask. ^^ A download of the Mjolnir template may be found here.

Full Size Build of Mjolnir Papercraft

George at the Behold the Geek! comics blog doubled the size of my 1:2 scale Mjolnir papercraft template to create a full size (1:1 scale) version of Marvel's vision of Thor's mystical hammer. Nice work George! I am hoping to post more Marvel Comics papercraft designs in the future. My current Marvel work in progress is a 1:2 scale version of Blink's quiver from the Age of Apocalypse storyline.

Marvel Papercraft - Mjolnir, Thor's Hammer

I have finished my second papercraft design! This model is of Mjolnir, the weapon of the Marvel Comics superhero Thor. The character of Thor was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and is based loosely on the god of thunder of the same name from Norse mythology. Mjolnir, among other things, enables Thor to fly, summon lightning, and create interdimensional portals. Rumor has it that a Thor movie will be released in 2010. Let's hope it will be as good as Marvel's Ironman was in 2008.
